Vault closure
Demonstrating the open vault. Note the minimal bleeding as a result of using the Ligasure impact (Medtronic, UK)
Vault closed with interrupted sutures
After removal of the specimen, the bladder is carefully retracted anteriorly by the surgical assistant using a hand-held Deaver.
The anterior and posterior vaginal edges are grasped with Littlewoods forceps; and the vault angles secured with a 1-0 Vicryl (Ethicon, UK) suture.
The remainder of the vault is closed systematically by placing interrupted ‘figure of 8’ stitches, using the same suture material.
